Information
The
three-level main terminal with Landside (pre-security)
and Airside (post-security) has a baggage claim level,
a ticketing level and a transfer level, and each of
these levels are divided into RED on the North side
and BLUE on the South side:
(a) The baggage claim level provides signage over
the escalators or elevators to show the side of the
airline location. On this level you cannot proceed
directly from the RED to the BLUE side - to cross
from the RED to BLUE, proceed up the elevator or escalator
to Level 2, cross the lobby and take the elevator
or stairs down to Level 1. Electronic signs over escalators
down to the Baggage Claim Level, or over baggage belts,
will indicate the baggage claim belt for an incoming
flight. The baggage level includes: all ground transportation
(taxis, buses, limos & hotel shuttles); access
to all on-Airport rental car counters; telephones,
restrooms, courtesy phones for local hotels &
off-site rental cars; courtesy phones for passenger
paging; Smarte Cartes & Skycap service and Ground
Transportation Information Kiosks.
(b) The ticketing level provides signage over the
escalators or elevators indicating at which side your
airline is located. It also contains all airline ticket
counters, restrooms, telephones, passenger-paging
courtesy phones, and Smarte Cartes & Skycap service.
(c) The transfer level provides Flight Information
signs for departing flights near each elevator. All
arriving/departing passengers pass through this level
of the Landside Terminal. Departing Passengers take
elevators or escalators up from Ticketing Level (Level
2), while arriving Passengers take escalators or elevators
down to Baggage Claim Level (Level 1). Non-ticketed
guests are not allowed to the Airsides. Visitors meeting
incoming passengers may wait on the Transfer Level
at the shuttle exit. Visitors meeting or escorting
passengers requiring special assistance, such as unaccompanied
minors or the disabled, should report to the airline
ticket
counter (Level 2) for Airside authorization.

Amenities
in the main terminal include: All Landside Terminal
shops and restaurants. There is at least one snack
bar and gift shop located at each Airside (post-security).
Some Airsides have extended food courts and restaurant
options not available in the main terminal. Mail drops
(incl. a large envelope & package drop) are located
in each corner on the side of the elevator core, adjacent
to the public telephones. Public telephones and data
ports in each corner of the level. ATM machines are
in the Tampa Bay Galleria. Other amenities include
courtesy phones for passenger paging; Airport Information
kiosks; Travelers Aid; Currency Exchange; Chapel;
First Aid Room, Hair Salon and shoeshine; and Observation
decks with smoking allowed.
If
you need to pick up a passenger at the airport, use
the free Cell Phone Lot. Stay with your car until
your party has collected luggage and calls you to
be picked up at the curb. Other parking options include:
(a) Valet Parking: clearance: 6.8 feet; Drop off at
BLUE departure curbside: 5:30am-5:30pm, or 24-hour
drop off and pickup on Level 5 of Short-term Garage.
(b) Short Term Garage: located above Main Terminal,
with Vehicle clearance 6.8 feet. For Terminal Access
use RED or BLUE elevators. Open 24/7 and SunPass Available.
The first hour is free!
(c) Long Term Garage adjacent to the Main Terminal
with clearance of 7.1 feet. Its High Vehicle Level
has a clearanceof 10 feet. The Monorail on Level 5
leads to the Main Terminal, andpPedestrian walkways
to the Terminal are located on Level 2. Open 24/7.

(d) Economy Parking Garage and Economy Lot - Shuttles
run 24/7, about every 7-10 minutes. Garage clearance
is 8 feet, Lot clearance 13 feet. SunPass available.
For all parking options, take a ticket as you enter
the garage or lot, or enter through the SunPass Plus
lanes. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners
Club, cash, SunPass Plus and personal checks drawn
on a Florida Bank are accepted.
(e) Disabled Parking is available on all levels of
all parking garages and adjacent to the bus stops
in the Economy Lot.
To
get from the Airport to your destination, you can
rent a car, take a taxi or shared-ride limo, or use
public transportation. The SuperShuttle, serving Hillsborough,
Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando Counties (Tel: 800-282-6817

buses for Hillsborouth (Tel: 813-254-4278) are located
at the East end of the Red Baggage Claim Curbside
by Belt 20. The route map
and schedule is located at the bus stop. The Greyhound
bus terminal is located in downtown Tampa on 610 Polk
Street near the corner of Pierce Street. Take a taxi
or limo to the station.

while the butterfly garden, nature trail and planetarium
offer total immersion programs that further explore
the physical environment. An IMAX theater awes guests
with spectacle and is just one more reason that MOSI
is the Southeast's largest science center and a perennial

and visitors find eminently fascinating. Exhibits
proudly celebrate local heritage and highlight artifacts

displayed are relics from the American Indians who

A library of historical books and papers can also
be found on the premises.
4. Tampa Museum of Art

collection of classical Greek and Roman artwork -

1. Busch Gardens

on Africa's past, is divided into ten sections that

of Africa" and come face-to-face with hyenas,

and check out water rides and white tigers; take the
kids to "Land of the Dragons" and let them
explore the three-story tree house and other fairy-tale
attractions. Whatever your fancy, it will be met at
Florida's largest west-coast park, which also contains

2. Gasparilla Pirate Festival

Perhaps Tampa's most-anticipated festival, this exuberant
event is the city's answer to Mardi Gras. Held in
late January or early February, it features a fleet
of invading boats, manned by marauding "pirates"

The event commemorates the state's pirate heritage
with elaborate costumes, street parades and entertainment.
There's also a brunch, games, rides and activities
for spectators of all ages.

With 24 different, thrilling water rides strategically
placed throughout this 30-acre park, the fun is seemingly
endless! Attractions are suitable for all ages; Fabian's
Funport or Splash Attack, for example, are specially

the Caribbean Corkscrew (two enclosed water slides
intertwined to the depths) and the Tampa Typhoon (featuring
a seven-story drop into a pool of water) keep big
brothers and sisters entertained. At Adventure Island,
the quest for fun will surely be satiated.
4. Guavaween

YBOR CITY. This Hispanic interpretation of Halloween
celebrates Tampa's title as the "Big Guava."
Taking place late in October in Ybor City, the event
begins with a parade (known as the "Mama Guava
Stumble") of wildly attired characters, and then
shifts to a street party that completely inundates
the historic neighborhood. There are also concerts
and live entertainment. Early during the day, events
for kids and families are planned, but the late-night
atmosphere is a little too decadent for young ones.
The parade is free; the street party does charge an
admission fee.
5. Florida State Fair

This two-week annual event highlights Florida's agricultural
life and focuses on livestock expositions and arts
and crafts displays. However, there are also tons
of rides and concerts and a bonanza of food. Known
as the Southeast's largest fair, Florida's offering
has one of the country's largest midways, and kids
and adults alike thrill to the event. In addition
to the exciting rides, botanical displays, competitions
and judgings of all sorts are on the agenda. Free

6. Outback Bowl

This New Year's Day event pits two college teams against
each other in post-season play. Televised around the
country, the game has become a local football attraction,
with a variety of events centered around it. Tickets
are available from Ticketmaster, but you'll have to
get them early if you plan on attending.
7. Ruskin Seafood and Arts Festival

Each November, restaurants and vendors gather along
Tampa Bay to serve up some of the area's best seafood.
During the alcohol-free two-day event, eager visitors
line up to sample crab, shrimp, conch, grouper and
other ocean delicacies. There's also an arts and crafts
exhibit, musical entertainment and attractions for
the children. Parking is free, but there is an admission
charge for the event. Food prices are additional.
8. Flatwoods Wilderness Park

Throughout the year, this park is filled with lush
vegetation and a wide variety of nature's inhabitants.
At any one time, you're likely to spot delicate wildflowers
and blooming shrubs, along with frogs, birds, armadillos
and maybe even a wild pig or bobcat. (Remember: They're
more frightened of you than you are of them.) When
the weather cooperates, outdoor enthusiasts flock
to the park to jog, bike and roller blade along the
paved trails. The paths at Flatwoods also connect
to those at other parks to comprise a 20-mile route
through populated and natural areas of the city.
9. Hillsborough River State Park

Twelve miles north of the city, this 3000-acre park
winds alongside the Hillsborough River and offers
a variety of landscapes, including swamps and pine
woodlands. Marked trails provide paths for jogging,
biking and sightseeing. There are also facilities
for camping, boating, fishing and swimming. Open since
1938, this expansive preserve is one of the area's
favorites and a great getaway for city residents.

a nighttime trip to Grandfather's or Turtle Head Ledge.
